Paperless Pause

On June 5th 2014 in the school premises,This event was conducted to commemorate World Environment Day. It was a Paperless Day at school without deviating from the regular teaching.Every individual at school, right from the Headmistress, Ms Kashmira Kalyaniwala to the supervisors, teachers, administrative staff and even the help staff consciously participated and contributed actively in promoting awareness about conservation of paper.

Paper was not used in classrooms, in printers and copiers and classroom teaching was done through fun filled activities.

The highlights of the day were:

• An oath to protect and save the Earth administered by Ms, Kashmira Kalyaniwala Headmistress.

• Planting of pomegranate plant by Headmistress, Supervisors and students.

• The Administrative staff avoided the usage of paper by shutting down the printer, communicating with teachers and parents through email and telephone only and re -using compact discs, white boards were used to write messages.

• Puppet shows and storytelling sessions were held for students of KG1.

• Alphabet, numbers and Vowel games enthralled students of KG2. They made fruits and vegetables with clay.

• Math concepts were introduced using pasta and straws. Nature walk was the highlight of the day for students of grade 1.

• Magic ‘e’ words were done using Flowers. Addition was done using macaroni, Role play and Ribbon activity was held for grade 2.

• An interesting Blindfold game, Dum charades, Rangoli and Clay activities were organized for students in Grade 3.

• Vegetable printing, Multiplication using Rajma seeds, Role play and story building, Sand painting and Clay modelling were done for students of Grade 4.

• Debate, Meow game, dumb charades, Jam Session to save paper, Straw activity, Apostrophe game and extempore was highlights of Grade 5.

• Each grade had a Take Home Activity to take the Paperless Pause message home.

DPS Sharjah paused for a day and sought simple ways to reduce the use of paper and dedicated a day towards caring for our planet, Earth.
