A Green initiative, “For our Emirates We Plant” held by Emirates Environmental Group (EEG) on 19th December 2019 brought together 50 companies, 24 schools and 163 families at Special Bee Reserve -Al Minei, South of Ras Al Khaimah. Under the patronage and presence of H.E. Engr. Sheikh Salem bin Sultan bin Saqr Al Qasimi, member of the RAK Executive Council and chairman of the Department of Civil Aviation, the green enthusiasts planted thousand indigenous Sidra trees.
Delhi Private School Sharjah participated in this annual tree planting programme of EEG, a part of Clean Up UAE Campaign which aims at expanding sustainable green spaces in the UAE. The school in tradition of upholding green values has been an active participant in various events organized by EEG such as “Project Green Call”, One Root One Community-Tree Project 2019” (Phase 1 and Phase 2) “Recycle. Reforest. Repeat” for collecting used mobiles and papers. Dipsites participated in this community program extending hands to create a green neighborhood.
32 Students from Grade 6 to 11 stepped out to join this tree plantation drive which drew curtains to the celebrations of the “Year of Tolerance”.
The young environmentalists of Delhi Private School Sharjah planted 11 trees under the name of the school, thus achieving the target in various Projects of EEG. This was possible by the active contribution by the students.
The students were accompanied by Ms. Ranjana, Ms. Shalu, Ms. Seema, Ms. Ruchi, Ms. Ritika and Mr. Rahul.
This community activity served to be a textbook for students to appreciate learning through the lens of the real world. The students returned with a new sense of responsibility towards the Planet and a richer perspective of the world they live in.
