EARTH DAY 2020 - PRIMARY WING

“Like music and art, love of nature is a common language that can transcend political or social boundaries.” —Jimmy Carter

The 50th Anniversary of Earth Day was celebrated on April 22, 2020 with a lot of digital fanfare and a real time heartfelt pledge to save our beloved planet. Amidst the sharp brunt of the global pandemic, the need for immediate action to save the Earth was even more urgent. Children at DPS Sharjah, nonetheless were up to the challenge posed by these unprecedented times.

Students then took a solemn pledge to conserve the environment, practice the 3R’s of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle as well as contribute to the reduction of the community’s carbon footprint. From beautiful handprints and adorable paper plate banners by our kindergarteners to smart awareness badges and delightful bookmarks by the higher grades; the spirit of Earth Day prevailed at homes during our e- learning sessions. Earth related word searches, grammar exercises and letter writing to highlight Climate change were seen across grades, integrating the issue with the education and lives of our children.
