ARAB ENVIRONMENT DAY

Updated: Oct 21, 2020

Arab Environment Day was celebrated on 14th October, 2019. On this special day we decided to go completely paperless, in order to promote environmental conservation.

Every individual at school right from Vice Principal Kashmira Ma’am to the supervisors, teachers, administrative staff, students and even our help staff consciously decided to actively participate, contribute and promote awareness about conservation of paper.

The children were extremely excited about our ‘ADOPT A PLANT’ program!

The little environmentalists of KG1 and KG2 took a pledge to reduce deforestation. They were shown a PPT and an animated video on deforestation and its harmful effects. The role of trees in the life of every living being was discussed through collaborative activities, group discussions and smartboard games.

The children of Grades 1 & 2 watched a wonderful story of a camel and how to save Mother Earth, understanding the importance of animals based on their surroundings. It was followed by a collaborative activity, poster making, team discussion and writing impact in their journals. Students enthusiastically participated in all the activities and realized how it’s important to save the environment for all living beings.

The students of Grade 3 watched videos based on simple exercises that can be a regular part of whole family’s routine life, making a small change towards a healthy beginning. It was followed by interesting group discussions.

The students of Grade 4 were extremely fascinated to watch ‘Minus One", is a simple video which explained how reducing the font size by 1 before printing can help our forests, our planet and most importantly ourselves.

Grade 5 students worked in groups to build beautiful Terrariums. This mini open-air tabletop garden is a fun and easy way to add a little greenery to any indoor space.

Going paperless did not mean ‘no regular classes’. It was a normal working day in school. Learning was hands on and ‘good fun’ as some children called it. It was indeed a day bustling with energy and enthusiasm where a learning environment was created through various innovative teaching methods.
