CLEAN UP UAE 2020 will be the 19th edition of the campaign that initially started on December 12, 2002 involving four Emirates - Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman and Abu Dhabi. Through the years, this national campaign has grown exponentially in scope and reach to embrace even some of the remotest corners of the UAE.
Due to the vast popularity and a high level of support from government and private organizations, EEG went on to organize the campaign in all the seven Emirates since 2005. The event also expanded to include a slew of activities such as workshops, tree planting and competitions etc., making it a much anticipated and widely participated environmental platform unlike any other. It soon became a symbol to celebrate the unique environment of the country and mobilize mass support for its preservation.
Last year, more than 28,509 participants joined hands in the massive cleanup operation and collected 43,274 Kgs of waste from a total area of 62.4 SQ KM all over the UAE. Since its inception the campaign has managed to engage 782,562 participants, remove 1,514,953 Kgs of waste from 934.50 Sq Kms.
Clean Up UAE 2020 will take place in Dubai on Saturday - 12.12.20.
